Ok...since Jenna Voss talked about Story of O, I suggest that we read that next. Any objections?? Would you like to meet at the end of June/ beginning of July for this one? I think a trip to the East Side would pair lovely with this read.

      A New Post...

      A couple of housekeeping announcements...
First, thank you Sarah for hosting us last week. It is always so nice to be around people who know you. It was a delight to meet little Matty...he's a keeper.

Second, congratulations are in order to Tracey, because Collin put a ring on it. Can't wait for all the details.

      A March Read
Our next read is Wench by Dolen Perkins-Valdez. Originally, I had scheduled brunch for us on Sunday, March 18th but two giant conflicts have come up so we are moving the brunch date to Sunday, March 25th at The London Tea Room on Washington Ave, downtown. I will make a reservation for 9 Bluestockings at 11am (at this time we can get breakfast or lunch). I dare you to tell me you can't make it...

      A Supplement (not a substitute)
Check out the Wench segment on NPR.

      In other news...
We'll be coming up on some new title selections. I want to try something new (again). I'd like to hold a virtual vote where I'll give you a few selections for each of the next 4 or so upcoming meetings. You vote (via email or text to me). I announce the winners, and then we read the winners. We can discuss titles that come into a close second (or whatever) and the process for adding those back into the mix.

Also, I am considering moving this forum to Facebook (as our own private page)...any objections? Does everyone have Facebook? Thoughts?

That is all I have for now. Book voting to happen soon. If you've any titles you want taken into consideration, send them my way.

A Very Bluestocking Christmas this Friday...

      Lovely Blues-
This Friday, 12/09, we are meeting at my house at 6:30pm to have our Holiday Gathering of 2011. We will be having pasta from Favazza's again, so no need to bring anything to eat. Just bring a bottle of wine (or beers) to share!

Among other things, we will be discussing eating heaven by Jennie Shortridge. I found this to be a very good read, so I hope you all are enjoying it as well.

Don't forget to bring your book for the book exchange (if you are interested in partaking). This year's theme is about selecting a book to give that you've always wanted to read (but just never have).

Let me know if you have any Qs.

Can't wait to see you all on Friday!
      XOXO

      More news...

Also, in case you didn't know, I started a new job this past week at a company called The BookSource and on Saturday, Dec 3rd we will be having a Friends and Family event where the books in our warehouse will be 45% off.

Most of these books are young adult reads and under, but there's some pretty interesting titles that I think you'd all be interested in, especially for our teachers and moms in the group. Please feel free to come and take advantage of this cool event. I believe it's from 9-noon at our Macklind office, directly across from the Humane Society. I will be there for sure!

Let me know if you have questions or need more info :)

We'll be eating heaven on Dec 10th...

      Lovelies-
Please don't forget about our Very Bluestocking's Christmas gathering at my house on Saturday, December 10th at 7pm. Dinner will be served at 7:30pm. Bring your appetite and don't worry about bringing anything else (except maybe a bottle of wine).

We will be having our traditional sit-down dinner (menu TBA), so please dress accordingly. Also, we will be discussing Jennie Shortridge's eating heaven, which is a delight thus far (I just started and am liking it a lot).

In addition, if you'd like to participate in our annual book exchange, the theme of the exchange this year is a book you've wanted to read but haven't. Please bring your book wrapped to set under the Roetheli Christmas tree. Inscriptions can be done before or after the exchange is complete. I will be sure to have Sharpies on hand...Meghan.

I really look forward to seeing you all, eating a good dinner and having a lively conversation!! Please let me know if you have any questions.
